Brian Butler captures the raw energy of the concerts he attends with the epic collection of drawings titled Show Drawn.

Starting February 28th, Brian is showing a number of these drawings in the exhibition Double Vision at Swampspace in Miami.
If you’re lucky enough to be in town, check it out, congratulate Brian and shake his hand!

To celebrate the exhibition, we were thrilled to work with Brian to create the limited edition screen print Corpse Paint and Ringing Ears. This print features the bands Marduk, Moonspell, Inquisition, The Foreshadowing, and Death Wolf and was drawn in Brian’s sketch book right in the middle of it all—the mosh pit of the Culture Room in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Brian writes:
“This print is a part of a collection of drawings made in my sketchbook while at shows. I consider the concert a workplace; the music hall is my improvised studio. These spaces are full of unpredictable muses … spilling beer, randomly vomiting or stage diving directly into me . These endlessly inspiring scenes force me to draw quickly before the moments are gone. Using the filter of my illustrations, I hope to seize each moment, head banging to the sound, while highlighting the weird, wild and ugly.”

Corpse Pain and Ringing Ears is hand screen printed on 140 lb. Madero Beach Speckletone French Paper and measures 18×24″.

Editions 1 – 25 are available here on our website. Brian has editions 26 – 50 for sale at Swampspace in Miami.
